He closed his eyes for three seconds for no reason, then opened them very slowly while watching the ceiling. He took off his shoes with his feet, then tilted his head to the left and stared at the turned off TV for a while. He reached out with difficulty toward the remote control and pressed the play button. He didn't even bother looking at the TV again. He furrowed his eyebrows as if he were trying to remember something important, then he raised his left index finger, revealing his fingernail with the memory. He lowered his head slightly, close to the dusty brown table that sat between the sofa and the television, standing with difficulty on its three legs and a yellow stone, trying hard to keep up with the rest so as not to lose balance. He looked downstairs at the table and extended his hand, moving it left and right among the books, papers, and some beer bottles until he finally found what he was looking for. A cardboard box, which he did not even bother to remove from its place. He opened it without looking at it and took from it a piece of pizza left over from yesterday's dinner or perhaps last month. He stared at it while slouching slightly with his back on the left side of the sofa. As soon as he adjusted his seat to his satisfaction, he began to devour his spoils and entertained his ears with the sound of chewing pizza and the sound of the silent television.
